When you include art and creativity into your wellness regimen you create space to breathe, look within, and invite ideas.
You give yourself room to ask the ‘why’ and ‘what if’ questions. You become an explorer and scientist of self using creativity as the log for every hypothesis.
According to the American Public Health Association, engagement with artistic activities, either as an observer or a creator, can enhance a person’s mood, emotions, and other positive psychological states.
Other benefits of participating in Creative Wellness practices include:
enhancing the mental, emotional, and intellectual elements of your well-being
getting out of your problem-solving brain and leaning on your heart and higher self
escaping “infinite scroll mode”
increasing your intuition
So treat yourself to little acts of self-love with the 3 creative and mentally nourishing activities below.

Activity 1: Creating with found objects
Make your mark with stones, flowers, leaves, branches, sea glass and more.
Approach this one like your kid would. Exploring is serious business and requires a lot of curiosity. 🧐🤪 (I’m only partially serious)
Mandalas, ovaries, compasses, or freeform are always a hit and the little ones are big fans of creating faces.
freeform
There’s no wrong way to create for wellness purposes.
Let your mind and hands wander. It’s time to play!
Mandalas
Rocks and leaves make a great combination.
Sanskrit for “circle”, the mandala symbolizes harmony and wholeness.
faces
These are fun and you don’t need many items.
Use your found objects to create a face that represents you.
💡 Depending on the weather and location this activity can provide a great opportunity for grounding (connecting with the earth’s electrons by being barefoot outside).
Activity 2: Ho'Oponopono
Ho'Oponopono is a Hawaiian forgiveness practice to boost heart energy. It’s also good for releasing blockages.
📷 Place your left hand on the center of your lower belly and your right hand on your heart (like shown) in this beautiful visual by the beautiful Chetna @mosaiceye.
Lay down. Inhale and exhale completely. Soften your eyes. Sink into your body.
Think of a person whom you care for but have experienced some sort of discord.
See them vividly in their favorite place and make a connection like a rainbow from your heart to theirs. 🌈
<<How heartwarming is that?!?!>>
Feel them fully and say:
"I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you."
Do this practice for as little as 10 mins.
After you do this exercise you will feel the lightest that you’ve felt in a long time.
Activity 3: Creating or Organizing your wellness nook
Creating a personal wellness space is a great way to mentally, emotionally and spiritually replenish.
I’ve created a mini-series with everything you need to know (the what, why, where, and how) about creating a wellness nook.
💡 Invite your inner child into the discussion about what items and activities you should add or remove from your regimen this season.
Give yourself space to explore and you’ll be happy with the results.
If you’re looking to finally figure out how to creatively check-in on your own needs around never-ending mom life, you’re in the right place.
